Super Bowl LXI on Valentine's Day: Where to Watch the Big Game in NYC (Without Getting Dumped)
Mark your calendar, and then hide it from your partner: Super Bowl LXI is Sunday, February 14, 2027. Yes, that February 14. The biggest game of the year and the most romantic day of the year are sharing a Sunday, and somebody in your relationship is about to negotiate harder than any NFL front office.
Good news: you don't have to choose. Bring the game, bring the date, and let us handle the snacks.
The key facts
Date: Sunday, February 14, 2027
Kickoff: 6:30 PM ET (3:30 PM PT)
Stadium: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California, its second Super Bowl after Super Bowl LVI in 2022
TV: ESPN, simulcast on ABC, streaming on the ESPN app and Disney+ (ESPN also plans a ManningCast alternate broadcast)
This is a first for ESPN: the network has never aired a Super Bowl before, and it's ABC's first Super Bowl since 2006.
Valentine's Day vs. Game Day: a love story
Super Bowls usually land on the second Sunday of February, so they have flirted with Valentine's Day before. Super Bowl LVI in 2022 was played on February 13, one day early. In 2027 the calendar finally makes it official, and that sets up the ultimate couples' compromise.
A few survival tips from the experts behind the bar:
Chocolate is a game-day snack. Trust us on this.
Book the watch party, not the restaurant. A watch party RSVP counts as a dinner reservation. We checked. (We didn't check.)
Halftime is your date. Twelve-ish minutes of music, eye contact, and sharing fries. Romance.
Wear red. It works for Cupid and for half the teams in the league.
The halftime show: what we know
The Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show headliner has not been officially announced yet. Recent headliners include Bad Bunny (2026), Kendrick Lamar (2025), Usher (2024), Rihanna (2023), and Dr. Dre and friends (2022).
The rumor everyone is talking about: in October 2026, music-business reporters said Jay-Z would headline. Jay-Z's Roc Nation has advised the NFL on halftime shows since 2019. As of this writing, the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music have not confirmed it, and Commissioner Roger Goodell said "we haven't announced anything." If it happens, it would be the first time the man who curates the show also headlines it.
Who's playing?
The matchup will be decided by the AFC and NFC Championship Games in late January 2027. Until then, every fan in New York is allowed to believe.
